Whether alone, as a couple or with the whole family – there is the right route for everyone: hike along the paths of the famous composer Johannes Brahms, discover the Wörthersee circular hiking trail, enjoy the unspoilt nature in the forests or climb to the most beautiful viewpoints. Guided hikes are also part of our programme.

From the classic tour around the lake to tours through the beautiful Carinthian valleys, everything is possible. All cycle paths in Carinthia lead to the water, the sun and the most hospitable hosts that enthusiastic cyclists can imagine. Fun facts for hikers:
The Wörthersee circular hiking trail has a total length of around 55 km and the terrain is hilly with some short ascents and descents (altitudes from 440 to 850 m, approx. +/- 2200 metres in altitude), the route runs mostly in wooded areas, with magnificent views of both Lake Wörthersee and the Karawanken mountains. The circular trail consists of the themed sections FIRE, EARTH, WATER and AIR and information boards provide lots of interesting facts about the region and its history, fauna and flora, legends and myths. Sunshades, swings and wooden loungers tempt you to take a break at particularly beautiful spots.

Pörtschach circular hike – Bannwald round tour
From the hotel, the route leads over the small Gais ridge through the Bannwald forest to the Pörtschacher Alm and back to the hotel after a cosy stop for refreshments#

Once again the route leads over the small Gais ridge to Pirk and over the Pirkerkogel back to Pörtschach.

Cycle along the Drau cycle path through the picturesque Rosental valley, mountain bikers can conquer an impressive 2,200 metres in altitude on a tour around the lakes and racing cyclists can choose routes of varying difficulty that even lead to Slovenia and Italy. A free map – with 18 tours selected by professional cyclists – literally gets racing cyclists up to speed.

Cycling around Lake Wörthersee
The 40-kilometre tour is not only enjoyable, but can also be interrupted at any time for some of the sights along the way or even a refreshing swim. And if you only want to complete part of the route, you can choose to return via the water – or to be more precise, take one of the Wörthersee steamers on the way home.
Moosburg loop
The cycle path takes you to Klagenfurt. From there to Lendorf and then via Wölfnitz through Moosburg back to Pörtschach. Tour length approx. 30 km
Canal valley trip
An extraordinary day trip by bike!
You set off by train from Pörtschach via Villach to Tarvisio. Here the cycle tour starts on the new cycle path on the former railway road to Venzone. The return journey is by train. Route length approx. 75 km
