Wörthersee circular walking route
The terrain is hilly and ascends and descends steeply in several parts (from 440 to 850m above sea level, approx. +/- 2,200 difference in altitude), for the main part the route goes through woodland and every now and again offers glorious views of the Wörthersee as well as the Karawanken.
In 1999, Hermann Steiner from Krumpendorf constructed and sign-posted the Wörthersee circular walk, based on an initiative of the mayors of the region of Wörthersee.
You can start and stop the walk wherever you want to (the best places to do this are at the shipping piers around the lake and railway stations) and you can walk in either direction. If you do not want to break your walk, you should not let yourself be confused by the “feeder paths” (such as for example from Krumpendorf and Pörtschach), mostly marked in blue-white-blue! The following description (starting point Reifnitz) runs in a counter-clockwise direction.
